There’s nothing more exciting than the first seconds before you see that brand new baby! Here’s a recent baby photo session at home. I love to include details like little hands, feet, knee rolls, eyelashes, and all of baby’s personal movements. For example this little guy already likes to suck on his hand. You’ll also see a few sharks swimming around, because Dad is an avid shark lover and fisherman.
I’m always asked about dogs, and yes – your dog can join in the fun too! I try to think of each session as a time capsule. One day you may not live in this house, or have the same dog, or even the blanket baby is wearing. I try to capture all of those tactile elements that might go overlooked in the moment, but will stand out in the long run.
You may be wondering about timing. When is the best time for your session? I always suggest going with whatever is most comfortable for you. I had two really tough births and wasn’t in any shape for a photoshoot after. If that ends up being you too, don’t push it. Or think about a fresh 48 which is really quick and painless. I can come to you in the hospital and photograph everyone or just baby if that’s easier.
If you’re feeling up to it within the first two weeks is the ideal time to still capture the baby curl! So many changes occur in those first few precious weeks.
