BACK WHEN WE REALLY USED POLAROIDS & FILM
In the age of instant pictures and everyone becoming a photographer on their phone, I almost forgot how I got started! I am one of the last of the original film generation. I grew up working in the darkroom (and even had a darkroom in my basement), developing my own film, and spending countless hours squinting in the dark fumbling around with thongs, canisters, developing trays, and hours working on one image.
Even during my time modeling they still used film. Photographers would take polaroids to test their shot-yes, real polaroids because they had to. Not just or fun. It’s easy to forget those days because they seem so far gone, but when I look at my work I can see the inspiration from that time shining though.
My work takes time. There is intention set with each session. And my work is inspired by art, not just the reaction of my camera snap.
Three things are always present too – light, styling, beauty. I have always been inspired by magazines and the beautiful stories and lives gracing the glossy pages. In awe of their beauty, oddities, style, and of course the element of storytelling!
When I take pictures I imagine them as a magazine story for real life people. My dream is that you’re reading this and you’re thinking – yes, that’s me! I want that. Let’s do it. My work is about collaboration, inspiration, and creating something for you. Let’s dream up your look, and the story that inspires you, your family, and your life.

So, let's get to it. What's really different about my sessions. Aside from styling and finding great light (which makes anyone look amazing)...
RETOUCHING. No, you won't notice it. And no you won't look plastic. But, you'll look at your images and think, wow that's me?!
In my opinion beauty retouching makes all the difference. Think things like tiny under eye circles, a small breakout, baby spitting up on your shirt, a flyaway hair, and the list goes on. Maybe just some pops of highlight in the right spots. Nothing beats it! And most family photographers don't do it. With my fashion background I just can't do without it.
