MAMA signature series fine art maternity portrait

This session has a bit of fantasy and magic! Utilizing my degree in painting and mixed media I paint with light using specialized editingl techniques. These are true, one of a kind art pieces.

PAINTING WITH LIGHT // MOTHERHOOD RECAPTURED

The Mama Series was created to celebrate the power and magic of women. For most, not all pregnancy and birth are not easy. Motherhood is not easy. And often the mother becomes lost in the sea of diapers, feedings, laundry, meals, and the slow rush of growing a new human.

I wanted to help mothers see themselves again. No matter what their new reality was. I wanted to help women portray themselves how they wanted to be seen as mothers.

This session focuses on mama. We will build you up, relax, get glam, and talk about what you’re most proud of as a mother.

We will talk about the moments you don’t want to forget.  And don’t worry, even if you feel like you’re not there yet it won’t matter. I want to capture what I see – your inner beauty and strength.

This sessions offers extras beyond the standard family photo session. With the Signature you receive special editing techniques to blur the lines between painting and photography.

FAQS

• CAN I INVITE THE WHOLE FAMILY TO MY MAMA SESSION?

I really recommend keeping this one private. Just you and the babes. Often when other people are around its distracting for children and can really change the vibe. MAMA sessions are all about intimacy and closeness so it's a little different than a typical family session. It's also really important for mamas to get pampered with 100% undivided attention to look and feel your best.

• WHERE SHOULD WE SHOOT?

For MAMAS I love shooting indoors. In your home If you have natural window light is a great option so you are comfortable! Don't worry if its not perfectly clean or magazine worthy - I love creating moody soft images in cozy spots and I know we can make it work.

Hotels are also a great option. They're simple, clean, and already photo ready! You can make a little staycation night out of it. I highly recommend this option for maternity sessions.*** You deserve it!

• WHEN DO YOU SHOOT?

I keep time in my schedule to make MAMAS a priority so its fairly flexible. Since I prefer to shoot inside either at a hotel or in your home with natural light, daytime is best. Typically shoots are booked around littles nap times.

• WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

A big part of the MAMA is the styling! We will collaborate on this. I'll send Inso you can send me ideas, and I'll even help pull from your closet. If you're still lost you can borrow something from my client closet too.

Think flow, romantic, sheer, show some skin, throw on a kimono or your Calvin Kleins, lets get styling.

• WHAT IF IM PREGNANT, POSTPARTUM, OR JUST FEELING TERRIBLE!

We can work through it! Let's discuss some ideas and options. I wouldn't want you to look back on this time and wish that you had photos to look back on. We can figure something out.

• HOW DO I LEAVE MY HUSBAND OUT OF MY MAMA SESSION?

You just do it! I can guarantee he's in tons of photos around the house that you took. Think about scheduling a family mini or just setting up a tripod and snapping a few. If you can't swing both, but your heart is set on the mama I completely recommend making the time for yourself.

Another great idea is to ask for it as a gift! For your next birthday or holiday.

• WHAT IF I DON'T LOOK HOT?

The whole point of the MAMA is to find your groove. Trust me, we will make it work! It's my job to make you look good and its your job to just book it! With all the years I spent modeling I have tons of tricks up my sleeve for looking thinner, doing hair, makeup, styling, and help. I've got you. I promise.

• WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO DO MATERNITY PHOTOS?

I recommend waiting until you are showing enough that strangers can tell you are pregnant (probably after 25 weeks), but within a time frame that you still feel good. I personally preferred to have mine taken before I got too close to the end of pregnancy to avoid bloating and feeling excessively large. I've also had moms wait too long and have the baby before the shoot (keep in mind you could go early). Long story short, 28-35ish weeks is a safe period depending upon how you feel. If you want to wait until your bump has attained full size and all its glory that is totally fine too. It's all a personal preference and depends on your comfort.

• WHAT IS A PREGNANCY SHOOT LIKE?

When I photograph a maternity session its really important that the mom to be feels beautiful! I want maternity images to be romantic and engaging. I don’t think anyone feels great about their body while pregnant, but its my job to create a safe environment for moms to feel comfortable enough to show their bump. I never thought I would miss pregnancy but I do. I try to capture the fleeting moments to preserve for each mom.

• WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO WEAR OR IM TOO BUSY WITH OTHER LITTLES?

No problem! My signature collection includes styling and access to my client closet. I have my own personal collection of gorgeous, flattering garments to borrow for your session.

Join the MAMAS and take part in this signature series!
